15% of FT’s new subscribers are coming from the Web APP

From the moment the FT chose to publish through a WEB APP (what is a web app?), instead of hosting it through the iOS APP Store as a traditional APP, it was clear that APPLE entered dangerous grounds by not allowing third party subscriptions (external to APP Store). Can you really get away by grabbing a good chunk of the money just by providing a good distribution channel to publishers?
